Halloween Crafts Your Kids Will Love Making

From trick or treat bags to spooky bats, you and your little ones will have a blast creating these fun Halloween crafts:

  1. Go Batty
  2. Mummy Vase
  3. Trick or Treat Bags
  4. Pin the Spider
  5. Hanging Ghosts

1) Go Batty

To make a colony of bats you’ll need:

  • A few sheets of black foam from the craft store
  • Some googly eyes
  • A  hole punch
  • Black yarn
  • Scissors and glue

Cut the foam in the shape of various-sized bats (there are many templates online). Glue the eyes on and let dry. Punch a hole, thread some black yarn through and hang them on tree branches around your home.

2) Mummy Vase

To make a mummy vase you’ll need:

  • An empty, clean tin can
  • Medical gauze
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Candy bars

Take your can and place a couple of lines of glues vertically on the can. Wrap the gauze around the can until it’s covered except for 2 slits for the eyes and mouth. Glue the loose end down or tuck it into the wrapped gauze. Glue the eyes on and fill with candy bars for a chocolatey bouquet!

3) Trick or Treat Bags

To make your own trick or treat bags you’ll need:

  • Blank canvas bags from a craft store
  • Craft paint
  • Glow in the dark paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Spooky Stencils

Let each child paint their own bag, using spooky stencils, glitter, and whatever else they want to put on their bag. Help them paint their names on the bag so they don’t get mixed up, and add some glow in the dark paint so they’re visible at night too!

Pro Tip: Let your child express themselves when making art or crafts. Supervise and guide, but give them the freedom to have fun!

4) Pin the Spider

A play on the game ‘Pin the Tail on The Donkey’, pin the spider on the web requires:

  • Black yarn
  • Blindfold or bandana
  • Bright colored glitter paper
  • Sticky Puddy
  • Poster board
  • Tape

Use the yarn and some tape to create a spider web on a piece of poster board. (Find template online.) Pin or tape the poster to the wall. Cut a spider shape out of the glitter paper and place sticky puddy on the back. Each child will take turns being blindfolded, then turned around 3 times. They’ll be handed the spider and will try to place it in the center of the web.  Whoever comes closest wins!

5) Hanging Ghosts

To make your own hanging ghosts you’ll need:

  • Old white sheets
  • Black foam sheets
  • White yarn
  • Stuffing or old newspaper

Take your sheet and spread it out on the floor. In the middle, place a ball of old newspaper of stuffing. Wrap the ball in the sheet, then tie with the white yarn, leaving enough excess to hang it. Cut 2 circles in the black foam for eyes, and 1 larger circle of the mouth. Glue them to the head. Hang them from branches in your yard, letting the billowing material flow in the breeze.
