Your Family Goals

For parents, new year’s resolutions involve more than personal goals. You have your whole family to think about–especially the kids. Fortunately, it’s easy to get your kids in on the fun! Try these family-friendly new year goals for 2021.

Making Educational Activities into Habits

We looked at educational games, toys, activities, and other resources in 2020. Why not use 2021 to take full advantage of all these ways to learn? Your kids will have fun, and they’ll be learning! You as the parent can play with them or participate in their favorite activities too. Turn these games into regular habits.

Encouraging Hygiene

2020 may have ended, but the pandemic unfortunately hasn’t. Continue encouraging your kids to prioritize hygiene, especially handwashing, before leaving home or beginning any activity. This is crucial right now to stop the spread of disease. And of course, even once the pandemic ends, hygiene is an essential part of daily wellness. Instilling this habit during this critical time will help ensure your kids keep it up once things calm down.

Spending Time Together

Long-term quarantine means that many families have spent significantly more time at home together than they had prior, when many adults still commuted to work and kids went to school. Many families have more or less returned to that routine, at least partially. Maybe yours has too. But don’t let the return of daily commutes and time away from home keep you from spending time together! Continue planning movie nights, game nights, and family activities. Create memories everyone will cherish for years to come.

Conclusion

Every New Year’s Day, people reflect back on the previous year and talk about how to make the new year much better. Things never seem to go quite as planned. While we can’t expect 2021 to be a perfect year, we can resolve to make things as good as possible for those around us and continue the good habits we developed this year.
