Summertime is a time for kids to recharge, refresh, and just plain have fun. No homework, no classes, and no early bedtime. There’s only a few weeks left of this summer! Use the time to plan and prepare, but also have as much fun as you can.

Family Activities to Enjoy Before School Starts

You’ll need to prepare your family for the new school year soon, but not yet. Use these last few weeks of summer to have some experiences outside of your normal family life. End the summer with a bang with some of the following family activities:

1) Free Outdoor Movies

Venture down to Houston and take your kids to an outdoor movie experience. The Miller Outdoor Theatre, Discovery Green, and CityCentre all host free outdoor movies for kids in the month of August.

2) Kids Day at Incredible Pizza

From 11 am to 9 pm every Monday, kids can enjoy the unlimited buffet, drink, and one hour of video game play for just $8. While you’re at it, check out the other specials Incredible Pizza runs throughout each week. Remember, Kindergarten students and students of any age can never get enough pizza!

3) First Thursday Free Concert Series

Every first Thursday from April through September the Heritage Place hosts a free concert series. Catch the end of this year’s season on August 3 and September 7.

4) Go to a Play

Take your children to see Mary Poppins or Peter Pan at the Crighton Theatre in Conroe, or take a drive down to the AD Players Theater Arts Academy in Houston for Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr. Mary Poppins will be showing July 21 through July 23, Peter Pan is running from August 3 through August 6, and Madagascar is from August 4 through August 7.

5) Take a Safe Sitter Class

Your older children can learn life saving skills and babysitting best practices. They will become certified in American Heart Association CPR and AED use. You will know they’re equipped to watch their younger siblings and other children. The cost is $60. Classes will be held July 29 and August 12, 9am to 4:30pm.

6) Monday Night Madness @ Main Event

Your kids can enjoy All-You-Can-Play Activities, Unlimited video game play, OR a $20 FUNcard good for both food and fun, all for just $10.95 each. This event is hosted at Main Event in the Woodlands every Monday from 4pm to close.

7) YMCA Parents Night Out

The Y hosts entertainment for your kids so you can enjoy a night out! Your kids will enjoy movies, games, snacks, and more. For age 18 months to 12 years. If you’re a member, first child is $20, each additional child is $10. For non-members the cost is $25 for the first child and $15 for each additional. Schedule a parent’s night out August 19 6-10 pm! They’ll enjoy it and you need it.

Before Classes Begin
